Sun Protection All Year Round? YES!
Many would only think to protect themselves against the sun during the summer months. Not so! Sun protection is also necessary in the winter months, whether you're vacationing to a sunny spot like the Caribbean or just staying at home in New York.

Technically, sunburn is simply an inflammatory response from our skin to harmful UVB rays of the sun when it is overexposed. Our skin produces a pigment called melanin to protect us from harmful rays. Over time, our skin's pigment producing cells become damaged and permanently produce excess melanin. This excess melanin will cause pigmentation in the form of unsightly brown spots. In the long-term, over exposure to the sun can cause wrinkles and pre-mature aging.
It can also cause skin cancer.

That is why it is very important to use sun protection. “ Presenting Awakening Cream…a luxurious moisturizing cream that soothes, calms and protects irritated skin due to inflammations, peelings or sunburns as it contains natural plant derived anti-irritants. Awakening Cream is also formulated to minimize water loss of the skin and contains Ceramide and Vitamin C to help promote the skin's natural production of collagen and elastin

When out in the sun, act sensibly and follow some guidelines for sun protection:

  1. Try to avoid the sun during 10am to 4pm. That's when the sun's rays are the strongest.
  2. Sunblocks and sunscreens should be applied and reapplied when you're exercising or playing sports in the sun.
  3. Apply sunscreen even on cloudy days.
  4. Protective clothing is also another method of shielding yourself from the sun. Caps and light-colored T-shirts are especially important. For kids, protect them from the sun completely.
  5. Know your skin - no matter what your skin type is (fair or dark), tanning should be done in a progressive manner. Always take it easy during the first few days of sun exposure. And remember, the fairer your complexion, the more slowly you should increase your exposure time to the sun.
  6. Stay out of the sun if you are taking medication that contain photosensitizing mixtures or on skin treatment programs.
  7. If you experience a sunburn, especially a painful burn, consult a doctor immediately.

Fortunately, skin cancer due to sun exposure can be a preventive measure. Practice sun protection. Don't limit protection to just the summer months - it should be an all-year round habit.
